Carlos (a pseudonym), a pepper grower from Mexico, recently visited Joyshine’s factory to inspect the cleaning and grading line for Jalapeños and Serrano peppers. Carlos manages several dozen acres of peppers in Mexico. The local Jalapeños and Serrano are plump, glossy, and flavorful, widely used for pickling, cooking, and food processing.
Before the visit, Carlos had been in close contact with Joyshine’s sales representative Flora, requesting an 8t/h automated cleaning and grading line for his peppers. The production line includes cleaning, air drying, waxing, pre-cooling, and grading to improve handling capacity during peak seasons.
After some time communicating remotely, Carlos decided to visit China in person to confirm that the line and processes matched the earlier plan. He brought his family along, making the trip relaxed, but he was focused and thorough when reviewing the equipment.
Carlos paid particular attention to the line’s throughput. During peak season, Jalapeños and Serrano come in batches and were previously processed manually in segments. Manual handling made it hard to maintain speed, and peppers could start releasing oil or developing spots if left too long. He noted that the value of automation is keeping the pace steady during busy periods.
He was especially careful with the thin-skinned, spicy Serrano peppers, observing that the cleaning, waxing, and pre-cooling steps have a significant impact on freshness and marketability.
On-site, Carlos said, “Seeing the equipment in person is far more direct than videos or quotes. Peak season is intense for a few months. Before, we processed peppers manually in segments. This line integrates the workflow, which is what matters most for us.”
Compared to online discussions, Carlos appeared more relaxed, and the conversation became more detailed, covering pepper size, seasonal throughput, and quality standards. Joyshine’s engineers had designed a layout based on the factory space and workflow, which Carlos reviewed and found very suitable.
With previous plans well understood, he now feels confident about the layout and process. After the visit, Carlos confident the line meets his farm’s needs and will discuss next steps with his partners.
For Jalapeños and Serrano, where appearance strongly affects market value, cleaning, waxing, and pre-cooling extend freshness and improve consistency. Grading facilitates channel management and pricing. For farm operations, this is not just processing peppers—it’s producing standardized, high-quality goods.
